2012 Nissan Xterra

    The Xterra is Nissan's answer to those people who want to get off the paved road. This rugged SUV is perfect for the active, outdoor loving driver but it's tough yet charming appearance is sure to attract attention no matter where you take it. The 2012 Nissan Xterra combines the perfect amount of off-road capabilities and daily comfort for everyday commutes.

      Outside, its tall stance, prominent brush guards and skid plates show what a serious trail vehicle it really is. But this isn't skin deep. Tough, easy-to-clean upholstery and cargo surfaces, extra storage space, and tie downs for gear make the interior just as ready to take on the elements.

    Under the hood, it's running on a 261-hp, 4.0-liter V6 engine. This provides enough torque for towing or off-roading. For the serious adventurer, the available Off-Road package is the ideal choice for a serious quest. In its base trim, the 2012 Nissan Xterra X, it is equipped with 16 steel wheels, remote keyless entry, and power doors and windows. The S, the next upgrade, adds hardcore style and comfort. A first-aid kit is just one of the useful additions in this trim.

    Both the X and the S are available in 4x2 or 4x4 versions. The Pro-4X, available only in a 4x4, is complete with off-road lights mounted on the roof, off-road performance shocks, hill descent control, and just about anything else you need for extreme weekend fun.

    All of these functional features have earned the 2012 Nissan Xterra the title of Compact SUV of Texas after winning the Texas Truck Rodeo Award. Dozens of SUVs and trucks are pinned against the elements and each other at a working ranch in Texas to see which vehicle handles the challenges the best. To no surprise, the Xterra took home the title.
